Emplify Health is reminding everyone to have a safe holiday season.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported 6,699 crashes involving impaired drivers in Wisconsin in 2023.
In these crashes, 199 people were killed, and 3,577 people were injured.
Kelly Hilsabeck, the trauma injury prevention coordinator at Emplify Health, explained, “It’s essential for everyone to plan ahead and make responsible choices to ensure their safety and the safety of others on the road. Designating a sober driver or using rideshare services can make a significant difference.”
Emplify Health encourages everyone to take proactive measures to prevent impaired driving, including planning ahead for transportation, being aware of the effects of medications, and recognizing the signs of fatigue.
The local health organization also stated in a news release, “As we enter this holiday season, let us commit to making responsible choices and ensuring that our roads are safe for everyone. Remember, the life you save may be your own or someone you love.”
