
The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating a fatal police shooting that took place over the weekend in Chippewa County.
The incident occurred on Saturday night in Lafayette.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a domestic violence call, but before they arrived, one of the suspects fled the scene.
After a brief pursuit, deputies stopped the suspect, who then began firing at them.
The Eau Claire County Regional SWAT team was called in, and when the suspect opened fire on them, officers returned fire, fatally wounding him.
The Department of Justice is now reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the ensuing chase.
