Manitowoc United fell short, but a young player picked up the first hat trick of his high school career Saturday night (December 21st).
Black Out and Parent’s Night at the Manitowoc County Ice Center started off with a quick two goals from Ashwaubenon.
Ashwaubenon looked to be running away with it, but United countered with some hard, gritty offensive and defensive play to end the first period.
After one the United parents and their commitments were then honored during the first intermission.
Like clockwork, the Jags got another two goals, but Roncalli Freshman DeAnglo Flores made the rink watch as he put the puck over the Jags netminder Jayden Shevy’s shoulder for a short-handed goal to make it 4-1.
Going into the game’s final frame, United put on a clinic in Ashwaubenon’s defensive zone at the start of the period.
Mishicot Senior Aragon Jack buried the puck, followed by Flores, who put two more past the Jags netminder for a hat trick, making the score 6-4 within a span of 5 minutes.
Ashwaubenon got one more goal to go back up by 3 goals to end the game with a final of 7-4, putting United’s record to 1-4.
Two Rivers Senior Dan Karlin ended with 29 saves on the night.
United will be off until the new year as they will host Sheboygan South on January 3rd, with the puck drop scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
