A Manitowoc company will be building its own solar field.
An announcement from the Dramm Corporation says the 10,000 square feet ground-mounted solar field will be at their Fish Fertilizer Facility in Algoma.
The solar project is supported by a grant from the US Department of Agriculture’s Fertilizer Production Expansion Program or FPEP.
The company says the project marks a significant advancement in Dramm’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
Dramm’s Liquid Fish Fertilizer will offset the corporation’s energy consumption when the project is done.
The company could save up to 74% of the facility’s energy usage, with the project expected to be done in January 2025.
Fertilizer Production and Compliance Manager Fritz Dramm says the company is “Grateful for the FPEP grant award that allows us to invest in solar power to offset the energy needs at the Algoma fish plant.”
