Some villages and towns in Manitowoc County are now under a new state representative because of the new Wisconsin legislative maps.
Municipalities like Valders, St. Nazianz, and Whitelaw now fall under the district of Republican State Representative Ron Tusler.
In an interview with Seehafernews.com, he introduced himself and explained that he was elected to his fifth term in the 3rd Wisconsin Assembly District.
He is also a lawyer and, during his time in office, has focused on issues regarding law.
But he’s also proud of getting some of the most bipartisan bills passed as an assemblyman. He says that while some of the bills surround laws, he’s also passed other legislation.
“Like elections, I’ve done a lot of work on that,” he explained. “I’ve had some really big important environmental bills. For a couple of years, I’ve worked on some education issues. I’m also a former teacher. I taught in the inner city of Milwaukee before law school.”
One issue he wants to get passed in his next term is a lifetime fishing license.
“That is a bill that would allow people to buy a fishing license once in their lives, they’d never have to buy again,” he stated. “And it makes more money for the DNR than our current system does. So, the natural resources in Wisconsin would win.”
Tusler is also proud of his time on the Rural Wisconsin Initiative, who talked to farmers about what should be defined as milk when products like almond and oat milk came out as alternatives.
He also highlighted a weekly newsletter he puts out called Ron’s Recap.
It gives about five stories that he finds important enough for his constituents to read.
According to his biography, Tusler is still a practicing lawyer and a Marquette University graduate. He is married and has two children.
