Two people were taken into custody after a shots-fired incident in Manitowoc.
Police reports state that officers were called to an apartment building at 3:15 on Wednesday afternoon (December 4th) on a report of a man who shot a gun into the air.
The officers attempted to make contact with the caller and a suspect, but neither responded, so the officers geared up and secured the perimeter of the building.
At the same time, children were being dropped off from school, and the officers helped get them to their homes.
A man then exited the residence and told the officers that two suspects had gone onto the balcony.
One had fired a single shot into the air, and then both fled in opposite directions.
Another witness stated that the suspects frequently visit the apartment and flaunt the gun in an attempt to be “cool.”
One of the suspects, a 21-year-old male, was located at Pizza Hut and was questioned.
He admitted to legally owning a handgun but claimed he had no connection to the incident.
Officers noted the man was acting nervous and hesitant to answer any questions.
At the same time, a 22-year-old male suspect was being interviewed, and he directed officers to the handgun, which was found between two mattresses.
The 21-year-old man was arrested on a charge of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, while the 22-year-old was charged with 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
