After months of pushing, a bill to rename the Kiel Post Office has been signed into law by President Joe Biden.
The post office will now be named the Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building, thanks to the bipartisan measure written by Congressman Glenn Grothman.
Trooper Casper was killed in 2015 while attempting to apprehend a bank robbery and murder suspect, making him the youngest police officer in Wisconsin to die in the line of duty.
Congressman Grothman said that renaming the building after him “serves as a lasting tribute to this young man who was unwavering in his commitment to keeping our streets safe.”
He went on to say, “Let us remember Trooper Casper’s heroism and his dedication to duty, and let us honor his memory by supporting those who continue to serve and protect our great state of Wisconsin.”
A dedication ceremony will be held; however, the date and time have yet to be determined.
