The Chief of Police in De Pere has called for the termination of a detective following numerous policy violations.
During the De Pere Police and Fire Commission meeting on Tuesday (December 3rd), Chief Jeremy Muraski presented the violations against Detective Steven Yedica regarding his investigation into an overdose case in 2021.
According to Chief Muraski, Yadica “engaged in seriously deficient job performance” during the fatal overdose investigation.
It is alleged that Yedica failed to extract data from cell phones found on the scene, did not interview witnesses, or document any of the actions he had been taking.
Additionally, the De Pere Police Department also received an anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers stating the deceased individual overdosed on fentanyl laced pain pills, however, Yedica did not pursue an investigation into the matter.
In total, Yedica is accused of breaking eight department policies, rules, and expectations of conduct.
Thus, Chief Muraski has requested a hearing on the charges to be held before the Police and Fire Commission and the accused detective to be removed as an employee.
