The Two Rivers City Council wants to hear more from residents.
Council President Scott Stechmesser discussed adding listening sessions during the city’s work session on Monday (November 25th) so residents do not have to just come to city council meetings.
The idea is to have them about four times a year at different places around the city and get residents’ questions, comments, and ideas.
Two Rivers City Attorney Andrew Adams explained that the council needs to ensure that notices about the meetings go out to the public if they become a type of council meeting.
During the session, council members wanted to ensure they wouldn’t be breaking any privacy laws by having the work sessions because it’s illegal for a city council to meet privately without notifying the public.
Councilmember Darla LeClaire said she would want to keep the listening sessions informal to listen to residents.
The council didn’t officially approve any future meetings, but Stechmesser says he will work on starting something within the following year.
