A paper machine fire in Green Bay was upgraded to Box Alarm level over the weekend.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called to the city’s Eastside for a paper machine on fire on Saturday (November 9th) at 9:30 a.m.
Arriving fire crews acted quickly with the emergency response team to locate the flames.
They learned the fire was spreading from one paper machine to another due to an accumulation of paper dust in the area of the blaze.
Due to the size, construction, and persistent fire, it was upgraded to a Box Alarm level, bringing more crews to the scene to relieve the first rigs.
To put the fire out entirely, hot spots around the facility at numerous paper machines had to be extinguished.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was on the scene for three hours to quell the flames, assisted by Howard and De Pere Fire Rescue crews, the New Franken and Ledgeview Fire Departments, Green Bay PD, and Ashwaubenon Public Safety.
