The US Attorney of Eastern Wisconsin is charging a Kossuth man with making and distributing child pornography.
Attorney Gregory Haanstad says a federal grand jury issued the indictment against 49-year-old Robert D. Nytes.
According to the criminal complaint, around February 2023, Nytes allegedly used and employed a minor child to “engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction.”
Nytes faces 35 years to life in prison if he’s convicted. He also faces 10 years in prison if convicted of producing child pornography as a person who’s a registered sex offender.
Nytes was convicted of Second-Degree Sexual Assault of a Child in two separate incidents in Sheboygan County. He could also have to pay up to $250,000 in fines.
The case was brought up as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The case was investigated by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office.
