“Protecting our environment does not stop at state or national boundaries.”
That’s what State Senator Andre Jacque says when it comes to the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Legislative Caucus (GLLC).
Jacque is the Chair of this caucus which aims to protect and improve the Great Lakes-St Lawrence River basin water supply.
The GLLC is a binational, nonpartisan organization of state and provincial legislators from the U.S. and Canada.
Senator Jacque spoke with Seehafer News and mentioned how the issues they face affect the state.
He said, “These issues are critical to the quality of life we enjoy in our area which is blessed with natural beauty and environmental features that make Northeast Wisconsin unique.”
Jacque also mentioned how the work being done by the GLLC is huge economically for Wisconsin.
“We also need to safeguard the environment because many of our area’s economic sectors and jobs, from agriculture to tourism and forestry, rely on clean water,” he explained.
This is Senator Jaque’s first term as Chair of the GLLC, which will meet this week to discuss regional initiatives on clean water, aquatic invasive species, and more.
