
A Sheboygan man was shot by police after disarming an officer.
Yesterday (September 8th), just after 6:00 p.m., the Sheboygan Police Department responded to the 1500 block of North 13th Street for claims of a man waiving a gun in the air.
When authorities made contact with the 23-year-old Sheboygan man, he lunged at an officer, assaulted them, and took the officer’s firearm. Another officer on the scene fired at the suspect, striking him.
He was taken into custody and received medical attention from the Sheboygan Fire Department.
The suspect was then flown to a Green Bay-area medical facility for his injuries and will require surgery.
The officer assaulted during the incident received minor injuries and will be okay.
The investigation has been turned over to the West Bend Police Department and is ongoing.
