Nobody thought that the 2024 Milwaukee Brewers would be in the position they are sitting, closing in on another National League Central Division Title.
With 62-year-old rookie manager Pat Murphy and a lot of young, but untested talent coming into the season, the Brewers have 19 games left to play and are a good bet to return to post season play.
But where will they be seeded, and most importantly, where would they prefer to be in the National League pecking order?
Be a three seed-and keep playing with no rest or have some time to reset and be one of the top two seeds and begin the postseason playing in the Divisional round?
We asked Kent Sommerfeldt of the Brewers Radio Network during a recent edition of WOMT Sports Talk what he’d like to have happen.
He said his ideal situation would be for the Crew to “Try to win one of the top two, set up the pitching rotation the way you want to and get some rest prior to opening up the playoffs.”
Sommerfeldt added, “This team has shown that when they have a day off, they have a pretty good offensive showing.”
The Brewers head west for the final time this season as they open a three-game series in San Francisco tomorrow night and then to Arizona for three games this weekend.
This is a reminder that you can catch the latest news on the Brewers with Kent Sommerfeldt on Monday nights on WOMT Sports Talk, airing from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. from The Wharf on the water in downtown Manitowoc.
