The Manitowoc American Legion 19U baseball team is set to open up the Class AAA State Tournament today in Wisconsin Rapids.
Post 88 will be taking on De Pere at 10:00 a.m. at the Rapids Area Sports Complex, located at 1801 16th Street.
The winner will take on the winner of the Eau Claire/Marshfield matchup tomorrow at 4:00 p.m., with the losers of those games squaring off at 10:00 a.m. in the consolation bracket.
Just like the Regional Tournament, the state tournament is double elimination, so a loss in game one does not eliminate a team.
In fact, Manitowoc earned their spot in the state tournament by bouncing back from a loss to Appleton Legion in the Regional Tournament, before stringing together five consecutive wins, including two against the previously unbeaten Kaukauna squad.
