Midwest Acoustic Music Festival, 2023
A local event full of acoustic music performances is having its 20-year celebration.
The Midwest Acoustic Music Festival is returning to Lake Street Café in Elkhart Lake today (July 20) and will run from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
In total, there will be 13 musical acts performing throughout the day, many of which are local artists.
However, some are coming from as far as Minneapolis to perform at the 20th rendition of the Midwest Acoustic Music Festival.
Lynn Shovan, owner of the host venue Lake Street Café, spoke on why she and others chose to create this event nearly two decades ago.
“It’s all original music by the artists.”
She added, “So we started it to give a stage and a voice to young musicians that don’t really have a platform to promote themselves.”
For the 20-year celebration Shovan also says they will be sticking to these same sentiments.
They will also be having a few artists performing today who were a part of the very first festival years ago.
The music is set to be performed in the beer garden and there is no admission fee to attend.
Tips for the artists, however, are appreciated and encouraged.
Lake Street Café, who are celebrating their 25-year anniversary this year, will be serving food and drinks all day for event goers as well.
Last year, the event had to be moved inside due to rain, so Shovan also mentioned what she’s looking forward to most this year.
“Good weather and great music!”
She also said, “It’s such a fun event, you can bring a chair and pop in for an hour or five.”
Lake Street Café is located at 21 South Lake Street on the corner of East Rhine Street in Elkhart Lake.
More information on the event and a full lineup of musical acts can be found online on the Midwest Acoustic Music Festival’s Facebook page.
