Last week on WOMT’s After Further Review, hosts Jason and Tina Prigge spoke with Manitowoc Public Library representative Tim Gadzinski about the library’s upcoming collaboration event with PetSkull Brewing Company LLC titled Brew and Bee.
After taking a couple of years off due to COVID-19, Brew and Bee number 4 will take place on July 24th.
The event is a spelling bee for adults, and registration is open to anyone 21 years of age or older.
Gadzinski emphasized that drinking is not required to register.
However, with the $20 registration fee individuals receive two free drinks that can be anything from soda to beer, as well as a Brew and Bee can koozie, an MPL bottle opener keychain, and a certificate that is suitable for either framing or a placemat for your beverages of choice at the spelling bee.
The top three finishers will receive prizes, with a third-place finish the individual will receive a $25 gift certificate to Dynasty Restaurant, 2nd place gets a $50 gift certificate to Spices Restaurant and Bar, and 1st place will receive a $200 gift certificate to PetSkull Brewing Company LLC along with a full-service oil change and tire rotation, and a custom trophy from Manitowoc Trophies.
The entire event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Manitowoc Public Library.
Along with the $20 registration fee, individuals can buy cheats prior to the event that can be used throughout the bee.
These cheats include but are not limited to word trades, a restart, calls to friends, and a new cheat this year titled champion check.
All proceeds from purchases will go to Friends of the Manitowoc Public Library.
Each year has a relative theme found within the words.
This year words will circulate around an agricultural and gardening subject.
Other upcoming events at the library include Touch the Trucks, an event held on July 10th from 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot across Quay Street from the library.
The lot will be full of trucks, including construction, farming, firefighter, and other city police and ambulance vehicles.
Individuals can register for the spelling bee at ManitowocLibrary.org, going to the events calendar and selecting the date July 24th.
Registration is open now until the 23rd of July.
