Today is July 4th and that means Manitowoc, Two Rivers, and surrounding communities will be celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
In Manitowoc, the day gets underway with the parade at 10:00 a.m. followed by activities, food, and music around downtown.
One of the places to find activities is the Wisconsin Maritime Museum with Subfest.
Communications Coordinator Emily Shedal said on the WCUB Breakfast Club it will only cost $5 to get into the maritime museum on Independence Day.
“You can pop in the museum and see the new exhibits that we have,” she explained. “The Wisconsin Shipwrecks Coast exhibit which opened just over a month ago and the Manitowoc LCT Exhibit which around a month ago too.”
Several food vendors will be parked between the museum and the Manitowoc Two-Rivers YMCA and includes Greek food, barbeque, and sweat treats like edible cookie dough.
The following day (July 5th) at 9 am will be the Tolling of the Boat Ceremony to honor those who lost their lives serving the US abord a U.S Navy submarine.
Submarine veterans will also be in Manitowoc during the weekend.
The Sub Pub on the museum’s room will be open all weekend long as well.
You can find the full list of events at Visit Manitowoc and Explore Two Rivers websites.
