Scammers are back at it again, this time posing as a Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Lieutenant.
The Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center released a statement, noting that citizens have been getting calls from “Lieutenant Johnson” with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, ordering them to pay a fine due to missing jury duty.
The only problem is that there is no “Lieutenant Johnson” in the Sheriff’s Office.
Similar scams have popped up around the area over the years, and each time, the law enforcement entity warned residents that they would never call them to make them pay a fine.
If you ever do receive a call from anyone telling you to pay a fine, you are encouraged to hang up and call the police department, company, or whoever was claiming to call you on their actual phone number.
Citizens are also being reminded to never give their banking or personal information to any unsolicited caller.
