A former Green Bay Packer is singing the praises of the franchise’s soon retiring President and CEO.
In yesterday’s episode of the On The Line Podcast, former offensive lineman Evan Smith talked about Mark Murphy, noting how instrumental he has been in the development of the area surrounding Lambeau Field.
“As far as enhancing the gameday experience around Lambeau and all the renovations, everything that they’ve done, he’s basically been the key figure of pretty much getting that process and the ball rolling on a lot of that stuff,” Smith explained. “I mean, if you look at the Titletown area, the new tailgate zone.”
Smith also had high praise for Mark Murphy as a person:
“(He’s a) super nice guy…very humble person,” Smith revealed. “He’ll take the time out of his day to talk to any fans, any of the people that…He’s not one of these guys where it’s like, let me get to my private jet, watch out, I’m let me step over the peasants as I get in my limo kind of guy…He is a very humble, very, very down-to-earth guy. He’s only ever wanted to bring nothing but success to that franchise, and that’s what he’s done.”
The Packers announced this week that Murphy will be succeeded by Ed Policy as the CEO when Murphy reaches the mandatory retirement age of 70 next summer.
