The City of Appleton is set to receive $25 million to reconstruct the Appleton Transit Center.
A release from Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office notes that this project, funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program, has a goal of “improving safety and accessibility, creating jobs, and building more affordable housing options.”
Baldwin said she “fought hard” to get this grant, which she said will “ensure everyone can get where they need to go safely, make public transportation more convenient, and put housing within reach for more Wisconsinites – creating jobs doing it all.”
The project plans to build affordable housing units above the new transit center in a future phase of the project.
