Green Bay Preble is currently without a head football coach.
NBC26 reports that Mark Jonas, who is a Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Famer, was told by the Green Bay Area Public School District that he will “not continue as Preble’s head football coach.”
Jonas told the outlet that he was “blindsided” by the news, noting that he had applied several times for open English teacher roles, but was denied each time.
Jonas had been working with the players over the offseason prior to being told he was not being hired.
He also noted that the decision came from the School District and was not his choice.
The Hornets are coming off of a 1-8 season and have gone 3-24 over the past three seasons.
