
A couple of runs in the 5th inning is all the Manitowoc American Legion 19U baseball team needed to get a 2-1 win over Bay Port yesterday in Bay Port.
Coach Steve Walsh says pitching was strong on both sides of the ball, with Manitowoc 19U pitchers striking out seven, while Bay Port Varsity Legion 18U sat 11 down.
Bay Port would open up the scoring in the 4th inning after Cayden Heier drew a walk and scored a run.
The game then became tied in the top of the 5th when Cole Dvorachek drew a walk and then became 2-1 when Eyan Dessellier hit a single.
Seth Giebault earned the win for Manitowoc after only giving up two hits and one run over six innings of work while striking out and walking 5 batters.
Dessellier got the save for the 19U team.
Dylan Heier took the loss for Bay Port 18U team after going five innings and giving up two runs while striking out seven and walking five.
Manitowoc’s 19U squad plays again today against Wrightstown at home this evening.
The 19U team is still perfect on the year at 5-0.
The Manitowoc American Legion 16U team game was canceled due to rain, but they will also play against Wrightstown in Manitowoc tonight as well.
