
The Plymouth girls’ soccer team will be battling for a state title this weekend after cruising by Rice Lake in the Division 3 semifinals 4-0.
The matchup was tied at 0 after the first half at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee, but the Panthers would come out swinging in the second half.
Hailey Batzner, Molly Munson, Megan Schuenemann, and Rayna Nothem all scored for Plymouth, and the defense shut down any Warrior offense.
Rice Lake goalie Ayla Zuzek made 11 saves on the day, but it wasn’t enough for the Warriors.
On the other side of the Division 3 bracket, Catholic Memorial snuck out a 1-0 win over McFarland.
Both teams entered the break without a goal, but after 72 and a half minutes of play, Kayden Scrima found the back of the net off of a pass from Lucia Brown, and that was enough to get the win.
Jaylah Moore made 6 saves for McFarland, while Alexa Flipowicz earned the shutout on 5 saves for the Crusaders.
They will face Plymouth for the Division 3 state title at 1:30 on Saturday afternoon.
In Division 4, Cedar Grove-Belgium advanced with a 6-0 thrashing of Regis/McDonell Central Catholic.
The Rockets lived up to their name, firing 3 goals into the net in each half, four of them coming off the foot of Cora Erickson.
Arden Getschman scored the other two goals, while five players earned assists. Aubrey Johnson had an uneventful day in net, making just one save for Cedar Grove-Belgium, while her counterpart Cara Olson made 9 saves in a losing effort.
Meanwhile, Kiel fell short in their bid for a repeat championship win, as The Prairie School put their foot on the gas and never let up in a 7-1 win.
The Raiders’ lone goal was scored by Taavi Saeger in the 74th minute, with an assist from Ella Vander-Meer.
Danielle Mueller and Kyleigh Kroll combined for 7 saves.
The Raider’s season ends with a 24-2-2 record.
Prairie School will face off against Cedar Grove-Belgium at 11:00 Saturday morning for the Division 4 crown.
