Two days of free music in Manitowoc returns to Washington Park today (June 14th) and tomorrow (June 15th).
Metro Jam is celebrating another year of bringing national, regional, and local music to the Lakeshore area and Tom Chermak with Metro Jam says this year is no different.
“We’ve got bands from Los Angeles, New York City, of course, our first Canadian band that we have,” he explains. “Our headliners are from Atlanta. We have some regional bands from out of Milwaukee and Madison and, of course, some local bands. So, we’ve got a mix of everything.”
This evening, beginning at 5:15 p.m., Dave “Elvis” Ehlert kicks off Metro Jam, followed by BingBong from Madison at 6:30 p.m., and then surf band The Exotics gets on stage at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, Metro Jam will welcome Two Rivers artist Mark Birr at noon before Manitowoc’s own Charlie Bucket takes the stage at 1:15.
The music event’s first-ever Canadian band, Rose Cora Perry and the Truth Untold, takes the stage at 2:30, followed by Milwaukee punk band Combustor.
Chermak says Saturday finishes with The Mommyheads from New York City taking the stage at 5:30.
After them comes the Pretty Flowers from Los Angeles at 7 p.m. followed by the headline Drivin N Cryin at 8:30.
“There actually on their 35th anniversary tour,” he states. “They’re a band that’s probably a late 80’s band that do a mix of music. Some of its kind of driving rock, some of it is folk.”
Metro Jam is still free to the public. This is the 45th year of the annual music event.
