Even with the wet weather, a major road project in Manitowoc is still on track to finish on time.
Manitowoc County Highway Department Director Greg Grotegut says everything for the County Road R or N. Rapids Rd. project has gone well so far.
“Everything is actually on schedule and the southbound paving is scheduled for next week Monday,” he explained. “Hopefully, it doesn’t rain out anymore.”
Grotegut continues saying the end of August completion date is still attainable, but there’s still a few more steps to do after the concrete work is done.
“Signate and center-striping and all those other items, you know, once the road is done a lot of landscaping and those types of things,” he describes.
There haven’t been too many calls about traffic only being one way while County Road R is being worked on.
The project includes a complete reconstruction of the street with new soil and piping.
Another part of County Road R will be done in 2025, but Grotegut says that will just be asphalt resurfacing from County Trunk P to Highway 310.
