The Kiel girls soccer team is now one win away from a return trip to state.
The Raiders took down 4th-seeded St. Mary Catholic 5-1 in the WIAA Division 4 Sectional Semifinals last night in front of a home crowd.
Coach Mike Pritchard tells us his team fell behind early, giving up an early goal on a corner kick, but rebounded quickly, with Lydia Vander-Meer netting the tying goal on a penalty shot.
Jasmine Bink would give the Raiders the lead with a powerful shot, and Maddie McDole would add an insurance goal.
Taavi Saeger would add to the lead, and Vander-Meer notched the final goal of the game to secure the win.
Kiel will take on #2 Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian of Oshkosh in the Sectional Championship Saturday for a trip to state.
Also earning a sectional championship bid was #1 Plymouth, who rolled by #4 Sheboygan Falls 6-0.
They will square off with #2 Notre Dame Saturday after the Tritons snuck by #3 Winneconne 1-0 in their Division 3 semifinal.
In Division 2, #4 West De Pere was eliminated by #1 Cedarburg 5-0, while #3 Pulaski was beaten by #2 Nicolet 2-1.
