A fire caused the early closure of a Green Bay school yesterday morning (June 4th).
Green Bay Firefighters were called to Aldo Leopold Community School just after 3 am for a fire alarm activation and reports of smoke showing from the south end of the building.
The incident was upgraded to a structure fire response and once crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the first floor on the school’s south side, but no visible flames.
Green Bay firefighters found flames coming from the art area and started to attack the fire.
It was put out within 30 minutes.
Fire crews continued checking to see if there were flames elsewhere when they started venting the building. The school was closed for the day.
Classes will be held at UW-Green Bay’s campus for the remaining three days left of the school year.
