Preparations are underway for an upcoming pro-tour disc golf tournament in Manitowoc County.
The Silver Cup Tournament will be held at Manitowoc’s Silver Creek Park and Rollin Ridge in Reedsville the weekend of July 12th.
Lindsey Krause, one of the local organizers of the event, was a guest on the On The Line Podcast recently, where she explained that Silver Creek is one of the top 100 courses in the world, while Rollin Ridge is in the top 50.
“(Silver Creek Park) has 36 holes, which is uncommon, to have two full sets of 18 on the course,” she explained. “Rollin Ridge, is top 50 in the world. Every hole has three pads and three baskets. Depending on your skill level, you can play whatever layout makes the most sense for you.”
And that variety is something the event organizers are looking at as the tour draws ever closer, and a women’s tour event is coming next year.
“We are hosting the US Women’s Disc Golf Championship next year,” Krause revealed. “That’s a conversation we are having. Is black to black the best layout for them? It could be. There are some really great and iconic baskets and tee pads there that are the black to black layout that would be really great to showcase, but it’s a conversation.”
Krause noted that historically, the pros have played red to black, but there is nothing set in stone that they have to continue that way.
