The task force addressing the hospital closures in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls is halting its activities.
The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce-led task force has exhausted its resources.
According to Dr. Bill Rupp, a member of the task force, various healthcare providers have stepped in to cover the services previously offered by the closed Sacred Heart hospital in Eau Claire and St. Joe’s hospital in Chippewa Falls.
However, the task force was unable to find any entity willing to take over the hospitals, leaving the buildings likely vacant and the jobs permanently lost.
Rupp indicated that the Chippewa Valley market could not sustain HSHS and the remaining healthcare options.
