For several area baseball teams, today is the day they will try to punch their ticket to state.
The sectional round of the WIAA Baseball Tournament will be held at several ballparks around the state, depending on the weather.
In Division 1, Sectional #4, Manitowoc Lincoln, the 2 seed in the bracket, will battle #3 Neenah at EJ Schneider Field in Oshkosh immediately after the opener, #1 Hartford vs #5 Menasha.
The winners will face off at 4:00 for the sectional championship and a trip to state.
In Sectional #2, #1 De Pere will take on the Cinderella story of the postseason, #12 seeded Appleton East, at Sunset Park in Kimberly, after which #3 Bay Port will face off against #2 Kimberly.
The winners will then square off at 4:00 p.m. for the sectional crown.
And in Division 2, #2 Notre Dame is opening up action at American Legion Field in Appleton against #1 Mosinee at 10:00 this morning.
After that game is over, the Kiel Raiders, with the #1 seed, will take on #6 Xavier with the winners going battle for the sectional title at 4:00 p.m.
All of the Sectional winners will be traveling to Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute for the state tournament next week.
The first round of games will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday (June 10th).
