An Appleton woman convicted in a federal child porn case has been sentenced.
Gregory J. Haanstad, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, has announced that 38-year-old Charlotta Belgum will be spending 20 years in prison, as ordered by Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach.
Court records state that Belgum created pornographic photos and videos of children and sent them to an individual in Texas, whom she had met in an online fetish forum.
That unnamed individual is also facing charges. During the sentencing, Judge Griesbach noted that Belgum’s crime was “of great magnitude and despicable” in nature.
Upon the completion of her twenty-year federal prison sentence, Belgum will spend the remainder of her life on supervised release.
She will also have to register as a sex offender under state and federal law.
