The cancellation of this year’s lakefront fireworks in Milwaukee has led to the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center canceling its annual patriotic picnic fundraiser.
This event, usually held during the fireworks show, is the Memorial’s largest fundraiser, generating around $50,000 each July.
Dan Buttery of the War Memorial noted that this fundraiser accounts for approximately 25% of the Memorial’s annual revenue, and the organization is now uncertain about how to make up for this financial shortfall.
