Authorities have yet to determine the cause of Tuesday night’s explosion and fire that resulted in the deaths of two people in the Town of Springfield.
The incident completely destroyed a home on Capitol View Road.
Firefighters have not clarified whether the explosion preceded the fire.
Fire investigators are collaborating with the state’s Department of Justice on the case.
Neighbors described the couple living in the home as wonderful people.
The Dane County sheriff noted reports of gunshots at the scene were actually bullets igniting in the fire.
