An eastern Wisconsin state senator is in favor of revoking registration for a student organization at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Senator Andre Jacque explains that two UW-Madison graduates submitted a formal 47-page complaint calling on administrators to revoke the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) as a Registered Student Organization on the campus.
The De Pere Republican alleges that “officials on the campus documented reports of bullying, intimidation, discrimination, and anti-Semitism directed from the pro-Hamas encampment protesters had on campus and included some university faculty and staff joining in.”
He also questions the university’s level of concern for Jewish students, stating if “those students were instead a person of color, or some other officially sanctioned ‘marginalized’ group, the university and outcry from its community would -rightfully- be swift, sever, and resounding.”
He finished by saying he “agrees with students that the document being submitted to the university is enough to end the Registered Student Organization status for the SJP.”
