The sectional championship and a trip to state is on the line for four area softball teams today.
In the Division 1 Sectional Championship, the top team in the state, Kaukauna, is riding a near national record 106-game win streak into today’s matchup with 2-seeded Ashwaubenon.
The Galloping Ghosts are four wins away from tying the record for longest win steak ever, set by Vanderbilt Catholic in Louisiana between 1980 and 1983.
The Jaguars are no slouches themselves, currently riding a 25-game win streak. Their only blemish came in game two of the season when they lost to Perrysburg.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Pulaski.
In Division 3, it will be a battle of #1 seeds as Mishicot squares off with Peshtigo.
The Indians, to put it bluntly, have been dominant in every aspect of the game. During their 27-game win streak this season, Mishicot has outscored their opponents 315 to 29 and have amassed 20 shutouts along the way.
The Bulldogs, meanwhile, started the season 0-2 but have turned it on down the stretch. They are currently riding a seven-game win streak where they have outscored their opponents 71 to 18.
Today’s game is being played in Oconto.
And in Division 4, 2 seeded Random Lake is facing Coleman in Crivitz.
The Rams enter the contest on just a five game win streak, but they swept all of their Big East South matchups, claiming the conference crown.
Meanwhile, the Cougars area on a six game hot streak, and have only allowed two runs in their last four games.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 this evening.
