A late-night fire and explosion at a home on Capitol View Road in Middleton resulted in one fatality.
Dane County’s sheriff indicated that the explosions, initially reported as possible gunshots, were likely due to ammunition igniting in the fire.
The identity of the deceased and the cause of the fire remain unknown.
Investigators are scheduled to return to the scene today to gather more information.
