The new leader at the Lighthouse Recovery Community Center in Manitowoc says it feels like home to assume the position of executive director.
Jason Latva lives in De Pere but worked in Manitowoc County for about five years working for the Department of Human Services for the Drug Court Program.
While there, Latva says he was lucky to see the transition for treatment and recovery with a huge addition of services and resources in the community.
He left the county in 2021 to take a job as the Criminal Justice Coordinator for the State of Wisconsin before wanting to take a job with the Jackie Nitschke Center.
However, with former Executive Director Chrisma Rusch deciding to move on, Latva faced the challenge of deciding where he should go. Although, we know which he chose.
Latva calls the opportunity to run Lighthouse incredibly exciting, and said he is privileged to be part of a team that cares as much about the people they serve.
Rusch, while still a part of the organization, decided to open up a smash room called CRushed, and is now running it with her family.
