The Rahr-West Art Museum is doing more to improve its East Lawn on 8th Street.
A new program through the museum will continue that enhancement through the East Lawn Legacy Paver Program.
Executive Director Greg Vadney says 14 by 21 sized pavers can be placed along the Elizabeth Donchek Memorial Arbor eastward to the newest outdoor sculpture Makilli.
“We’ll allow for engraving as a memorial to highlight an organization or company,” he described. “Or just to show your love for the Rahr-West Art Museum.”
Vadney continues saying each paver will cost $1,200, but the money goes toward the maintenance of the East Lawn.
This isn’t a typical brick pathway project where names are engraved.
“We’ll just essentially be replacing distinctive bricks within that pathway with the engraved ones,” he explained. “And in doing so, you kind of already where it is and what it’s going to look like in advance of committing to the museum with your donation.”
Each brick can have up to 18 characters with 6 lines of text.
Company logos can also be added to show their support for the museum, which Vadney calls the true intended purpose for the program.
A museum ad-hoc committee came up with the idea for the program before the Manitowoc Common Council approved the project last week.
