A senior at Manitowoc Lutheran High School is being honored by the National Tractor Pullers Association.
Cody Chizek has been named the Rookie of the Year for 2023 after his successful first year competing.
Cody tells Seehafer News that he participated in roughly 20 events over the course of the 2023 season and did very well.
“This February, we competed at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville Kentucky, and I got 1st for qualifying and 3rd for the finals,” he recalled.
For Cody, tractor-pulling is a family affair.
“I grew up with it. My whole family owns four of them,” he explained. “Whenever I turned 16, my dad finally let me, and I guess now I’m comfortable in the seat, and I get to drive.”
His machine isn’t the same kind of tractor you see in the fields every planting season but is a more sleek, heavily modified version.
“The only thing that is kind of stock with it is the hood and some of the body panels,” he revealed. “Other than that, it’s all tubing and a lot of expensive stuff on there to make it go.”
Cody says he plans to drive for a trucking company after graduation but still plans to fit tractor pulling into his schedule. You can follow his career by following the Armed and Dangerous Pulling Team Facebook page.
