Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources has set a quota of 12 elk for this year’s hunt.
The DNR announced that hunters can take eight elk bulls from the Clam Lake Elk Zone and four from the new Black River Elk Zone.
The Ojibwe tribes are entitled to claim up to half of the harvest.
Hunters can enter a lifetime lottery for an elk permit, with the deadline for applications at the end of the month.
