Manitowoc County’s congressman is investigating an area in the United States Department of Defense.
Glenbeulah Republican Glenn Grothman, along with Indiana Republican Representative Jim Banks, are leading efforts ahead of a published report of the newly created Defense Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (DACODAI).
The National Security, Boarder, and Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by Grothman, believes the report will contain advice and recommendations on the matters and policies related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or DEI in the US Armed Forces.
Grothman’s committee also heard testimony from the group Stand Together Against Racism and Radicalism in the Services (STARRS).
The group also said they were uncomfortable recommending military service because of the DEI policies instituted through the Department of Defense.
A letter was sent to DACODAI Chair Lester Lyles saying the committee is concerned about DEI and wants information and an update regarding the report’s publication as soon as possible.
All Republicans on the Border, Foreign Affairs Committee signed the letter.
