
Baseball teams around the state now know who they will be facing in the first round of the WIAA State Baseball Tournament.
Locally, in Division 1, Manitowoc Lincoln earned the #2 seed in Sectional #4 and has a first-round bye.
They will take on either #7 Fond du Lac or #10 Oshkosh North next week on Thursday (May 30th).
Next Tuesday, #14 Sheboygan South will be on the road to take on the 3 seed, Neenah, while #14 Sheboygan North is at #4 West Bend East, and #5 Menasha is hosting #12 Oshkosh North.
In Sectional #2, De Pere is the top dog and will be playing the winner of the #9 West De Pere/#8 Ashwaubenon winner.
That game will be played Tuesday, as will the opening round matchups of #14 Green Bay East/West and #3 Bay Port, #11 Green Bay Southwest and #6 Pulaski, and #10 Green Bay Preble and #7 Hortonville.
In Division 2, Denmark earned the #2 seed in the bottom half of the Sectional #2 bracket, while Luxemburg-Casco is the three seed. Both teams will have a bye this Thursday and will play next week Tuesday.
Games scheduled for this Thursday include #9 Two Rivers at #8 Berlin, #5 Plymouth hosting #12 Winneconne, and #4 Chilton home for #13 Sheboygan Falls.
On the top half of that bracket, Notre Dame earned the #2 seed and has a first-round bye, while #14 Waupaca invades #3 Little Chute Thursday, and #6 Wrightstown hosts #11 New London.
In Division 3, Mishicot is the top seed in the Sectional #2 bracket and will be off until next Tuesday.
Games on Thursday are #8 Manitowoc Lutheran hosting #9 Southern Door, #10 Roncalli on the road for #7 Amherst, #11 Valders at #6 St. Mary Catholic, and #4 Brillion hosting #13 Manawa.
Only two area matchups in the Division 4 Sectional #2.
#4 Reedsville is set to host #13 Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy this Thursday, while #8 Hilbert is home for #9 Tigerton.
