
The Manitowoc Lutheran girls track and field team brought home gold from the WIAA Division 3 Regional Meet at Hilbert yesterday (May 20th).
They scored 31 points better than runner-up Kewaunee, who was followed by Mishicot, Roncalli, Sevastopol, Valders, Green Bay NEW Lutheran, Reedsville, Gibraltar, Hilbert, and Algoma.
For the boys, Kewaunee was named Sectional champs, with Manitowoc Lutheran 87 points behind. Roncalli finished 3rd, followed by Reedsville, Valders, Algoma, Mishicot, Green Bay NEW Lutheran, Gibraltar, Sevastopol, Hilbert.
Lancer athletes to take home individual gold were Elizebeth Blauert in the Long Jump, Trenton Schuettpelz in the triple jump, Gabe Stuebes in the 400-meter dash, and Mariah Krause in the 300-meter hurdles.
They also had three winning relays, including the 4×400 team of Stevie Brunner, Lilly Mehlhorn, Ava Stuebs, and Addison Korte, the 4×800 team of Selah Schulz, Korte, Payton Luebke, and Stuebs, and the boys 4×800 team of Jacob Kanzenbach, Joseph Ungemach, Ryder Vogt, and Braden Revak.
Four Jets athletes brought home five event wins, including Jackson Erb in the discus throw, Grace Mueller in the High Jump, Libby Schmidt in the 3200-meter dash, and Quirt Porter in the 100 and 200-meter dash.
Mishicot’s Kensington Rosenow had a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash, while the team of Kambrya Christoffel, Rylie Sosnosky, Regan Marquardt, and Rosenow fished on top in both the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay races.
Reedsville’s Hunter Taddy took home gold in the 800 and 1600-meter runs, while Allena O-Connell was the winner of the 1600-meter race.
The lone winner for Valders was Xavier Kauth, who had the best times in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.
