It was near perfection on the mound that helped secure Mishicot their first Big East North Baseball championship with a 6-0 win over Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah.
Nolan Sand was on the bump, and he went all 7 innings, allowing only one hit and zero walks while striking out 11 batters.
He was aided offensively by Logan Marquart, who drove home 3 of the Indians’ runs while going 2 for 3 at the plate.
When they moved over from the EWC in the 2021 season, Mishicot started in the basement, finishing 7th and 8th in their first two seasons in the Big East.
Last year, things started to click, as they skyrocketed to 3rd place, behind the powerhouse squads of Oostburg and Random Lake, who finished the season with a combined 24-1 conference record.
This year, Mishicot started an impressive 8-1 before splitting their next two games.
They went on another tear down the stretch, winning their last five games by a combined score of 38-10.
The regular season is not over however, as they have three non-conference games left.
Two are scheduled for Saturday as they travel to Shiocton to take on an equally powerful Chiefs squad, before battling the Northern Lakes Conference champion Crandon Cardinals.
The Indians will close out their regular season with a road game at Two Rivers next week Monday before entering postseason play.
