The Menasha woman accused of killing her boyfriend earlier this year is claiming innocence.
54-year-old Catherine Cheskie is facing one count of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide in the death of Thomas Guyette on February 24th, and FOX11 reports she entered a not-guilty plea this week.
Prosecutors say a resident in the basement of Cheskie’s home heard the two arguing upstairs the morning of August 24th before hearing a gunshot.
The man went upstairs to find Guyette with a gunshot wound to his chest.
The witness called 911, but by the time EMS and police arrived, Guyette had died.
Investigators point to Cheskie’s inconsistent stories of the incident, including how she claimed she could not have shot him, as she is legally blind, but she said she didn’t believe he had shot himself.
Cheskie is due back in court on August 26th for a status conference.
