A survey from the Manitowoc County Fish and Game Association and Leede Research has found some promising and concerning trends in the county.
The Manitowoc County Conservation Study reveals residents’ overwhelming support and dedication towards conservation efforts and outdoor organizations.
One of several key findings expressed a strong interest in protecting hunting and fishing rights in Wisconsin, with 92% agreeing or strongly agreeing with the statement.
Another statement residents agreed with is the vital role sporting and conservation clubs play in the community, with 94% agreeing or strongly agreeing that the organizations are important for local resources.
Also, 87% of residents agree or strongly agree that youth must engage in outdoor activities.
Unfortunately, the study also shows the trend of decreasing membership and leadership in local sporting and conservation clubs, with some facing closure.
Leede Research CEO Dean Halverson says the community must come together and actively participate in these organizations to ensure the preservation of our natural resources for future generations.
You can find a summary of the survey on the Manitowoc County Fish and Game website.
