John Berthold of Eau Claire has pleaded guilty to the second-degree homicide of his wife, Diane.
Berthold, 81, entered a plea deal for the fatal beating of his 77-year-old wife with a wine bottle in their home last July.
Following the incident, he attempted suicide. Berthold will be sentenced in September.
