It’s been close to three months since 3-year-old Elijah Vue was reported missing in Two Rivers.
Police Chief Ben Meinnert tells Seehafer News that, unfortunately, the department isn’t getting a lot of tips anymore.
But while the tip well has dried up, the searches continue.
“We did follow through with basically a horse and dog search of the entire Point Beach (area) over the weekend,” he explained. “Again, unfortunately, there were no results that we’d had hoped for.”
There’s also been continued discussion with EquuSearch, a Texas-based search organization, about what can be done to help find Elijah.
Many drones have also been used in the search, but the data from the drones must be processed using specific software.
“That software looks for unique anomalies that we have then to go follow up on,” he stated. “So, we’ve been working with the federal government, specifically the Air Force and Civil Air Patrol. So, they are doing all that analyzing for us.”
Meinnert also reminds those on social media how much misinformation hinders the investigation.
He says investigators had to spend two days quelling rumors about not communicating with EquuSearch, which TR Police said is something that never happened.
He and his staff are trying to stay positive as they continue to search and investigate what happened to Elijah.
His mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, are in the Manitowoc County Jail, both facing child neglect charges.
