Change is coming to the Manitowoc Warming Shelter.
An announcement from the shelter on Facebook says the shelter and First Presbyterian Church, The Haven Men’s Shelter, and Hope House are combining forces to turn the old McKinley School Building on Huron Street into an expanded warming shelter with affordable apartments.
The groups say they are excited to take a historic Manitowoc building and repurpose it for the good of the community.
They call it a vision for a more compassionate and safe community for citizens who are living with homelessness.
All three groups also understand that there will be questions, so anyone can reach out to the shelter at manitowocwarmingshelter@gmail.com.
There will also be a gathering this Saturday at 10 am in the parking lot of the McKinley building so they can answer questions.
